Welcome to Rainbow Club

 

Our values at Rainbow Club:

- To provide a caring environment where children are happy and feel safe

From September 2024, prices are £5.80 for 1 session, £11.60 for 2 sessions or £14.50 for 3 sessions.

Our theme this week has been 'Bees, Butterflies and Flowers'. The children have made lots of themed crafts such as tissue paper flowers, origami butterflies and have been playing outside in the paddling pool. The children have also enjoyed a lot of dressing up.

 

Our theme next week will be the film 'Up'.

Week commencing 31/03/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been Easter Activities. The children have enjoyed den making in the forest as well as getting out on the field due to the fantastic weather. The children have also made their own Easter cards, Easter wreaths and have done lots of pictures on the theme as well.

 

When we come back next term the children are looking forward to the 'Harry Potter' theme.

Week commencing 24/03/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'World Travel'. The children have spent a great time making their own passports, luggage tags and designing their dream holidays. It has been a fun week with a nice balance of indoor and outdoor fun. We are looking forward to the weather improving and the clocks going forwards, meaning more light to enjoy!

 

We have also been preparing Mother's Day treats and wish all Mothers a restful and wonderful celebration.

Week commencing 17/03/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'World Travel'. Our theme next week will be World Travel continued. 

 

The children have managed to enjoy the sunshine on the field so much this week that we haven't used up all our creative activities so we are rolling over until next week.

Week commencing 10/03/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Paddington'. Our theme next week will be 'Travelling the World'. The children have had honey and marmalade sandwiches, designed pictures of Paddington as well as crafting briefcases and Paddingtons from cardboard. The children have also managed to get back on the field for the first time in 2025, which has been a delight.

Week commencing 03/03/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Winnie the Pooh'. Our theme next week will retain a bear theme with 'Paddington'. 

 

The children have spent the week creating their own versions of characters from the Hundred-Acre Wood. They have used paper plates to design characters, made signs for the wood itself and created their own Winnie the Pooh games.

 

They have also spent a lot of time outside thanks to the upturn in the weather. This, coupled with a visit from a bearded lizard, has meant spirits have been high all week.

Week commencing 24/02/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Under the Sea'. Our theme next week will be 'Winnie the Pooh'. The children have enjoyed creating all kinds of aquatic creatures, playing with themed tuff trays and doodling underwater scenes. We hope you have been able to enjoy the pieces they have brought home.

Week commencing 10/02/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Shrek'. The children have been busy making mosaics, faces and models of all the characters in the film. They have decorated their own gingerbread men, while other children had ginger biscuits. It has been a very fun week getting on the playground as, despite the cold, the light is lasting almost the entire session. The children have been scooting and footballing as well as the colour game and the riverbank game.

 

Our theme after half term will be 'Under the Sea'. We hope you have a restful half term and come back refreshed for another fun-filled time at Rainbow Club.

Week commencing 03/02/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been Peter Pan and Pirates. The children have spent the week creating lots of craft related to the theme, playing with a pirate ship and sand in a tuff tray and designing excellent treasure maps.

 

Our theme next week will be 'Shrek'.

Week commencing 27/01/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Chinese New Year'. The children have enjoyed a multitude of activities including: creating a cardboard dragon, making lanterns and making their own spring rolls. They have also had fun doing lots of colouring and crafting also within the broader theme. In spite of some of the more adverse weather this week they have also had lots of fun on the playground.

 

Our theme next week will be 'Peter Pan and Pirates'. We hope you have a lovely weekend.

Week commencing  20/01/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'RSPB Bird Watch' The children have used a lot of creative energy in their creations this week. They have made parrots out of paper plates. They have also designed their own birds using chalk on black paper. It's always a privilege to see them having such fun and making great things.

 

Our theme next week will be 'Chinese New Year 2025' with a few special treats planned for the children.

Week commencing 14/01/2025:

 

Our theme this week has been 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt'. We watched a video of Michael Rosen performing his story and matched our craft activities to the story. The children have all made bear-shaped snacks and have helped paint a bear onto one of our display boards in the mobile. They've also enjoyed dressing up and playing outside now that the days are getting ever so slightly longer.

 

Our theme next week will be 'Birds of the World' as we explore all the ornithological fun to be had all over the globe.

Week commencing 07/01/2025:

 

Happy New Year to all parents and carers. 

 

Our theme for the next week will be 'We're Going On A Bear Hunt' and we will be decorating bread and crackers with different fruits in order to make their own bear-shaped snack. We will also be doing a wishlist of things for the upcoming term.

 

This week we have done Space and Aliens. The children have also had fun playing outside and adjusting to being back at school.

Week commencing 16/12/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas'. The children have been in full spirit during our last week before the Winter Break. They've enjoyed making chocolate rice krispie cakes, designing Christmas crafts and all around fun play.

 

We thank you for the fun and learning we've been able to experience throughout this term at Rainbow Club and look forward to another great term after the holidays.

Week commencing 09/12/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas'. We will be continuing this theme next week for obvious reasons.

 

The children have filled the room with snowflakes, Christmas trees and baubles. They have probably made enough crafts to festoon the mobile four times over. We hope the decorations and crafts they make bring you as much joy at home as they have brought us here.

 

The children also very much enjoyed playing with playdough earlier in the week and, especially, decorating fairy cakes on Wednesday.

Week commencing 02/12/2024:

 

Our theme this week was 'Winter Wonderland continued'. The children have sparkled with snowflakes, impressed with paper chains and surprised with their stockings. All this was done in a beautiful effort to decorate the tree that we have put up. They have also done reams of colouring of all sorts of wintery delights. Earlier in the week they also made pictures of polar bears and reindeer.

 

Our theme for the next two weeks until the end of this term will, unsurprisingly, be 'Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas'. We hope you enjoy the crafts that are brought home and that the children will have a great time.

Week commencing 25/11/2024: 

 

Our theme this week has been 'Frosty the Snowman and Winter Wonderland'. We have had a joyous time making paper chains for decorating the Rainbow Club Christmas Tree. We have also made lots of snowmen and snow globes. They have also made Starry Night pictures. 

 

Our theme for next week is Winter Wonderland continued. As advent starts Sunday I am sure our festive crafts will only increase.

Week commencing 18/11/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Transport'. The children have had a great time crafting a variety of different vehicles from hot air balloons to ships. They have also enjoyed making different structures from lego and a new set of connecting plastic balls and rods. When the weather has permitted they have also had a lot of fun on the field and the playground.

Week commencing 11/11/2024:

 

Our theme this week was 'In the Jungle'. The children had a great time creating a host of animal pictures, designs and crafts. They also enjoyed playing on the field and playground when the chance has arisen. They also had some belated, but thoroughly enjoyed, firework biscuits as a treat.

 

Our theme next week will be 'Transport'. Hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Week commencing 04/11/2024:

 

Apologies for the long delay between updates, we have been trying to keep you as up to date as possible. Now that Lynda has come back we will hopefully be able to keep these posts as regular as possible in order to keep you as in the loop about what your children are up to.

 

Our theme this week has been Fireworks and the children have really enjoyed designing their own fireworks, doing firework puzzles and drawing their own fun things. They have also enjoyed the time we manage to get on the field, unfortunately reducing since the clocks went back. Next week our theme will be Going into the Jungle.

 

 

First Update of the Year.

 

We have had a very busy start to the year. Everyone has started so well, enjoying the activities that have been available to them.

 

Most of our activities have been on the beach theme. In particular, making and designing beach accessories. Some children have also enjoyed being able to get on the field. Since Monday we have been able to play every day for at least a small part.

 

Yesterday we had a great time racing and playing basketball. Our resident experts impressed. Using the new hoops has been a real highlight.

 

Lots of changes have been upon us. Yet it has been an enjoyable week. Next week's theme will be princesses and paw patrol. Don't miss out. And we hope you have fun.

End of Year Summary

 

Thank you to all the pupils for making this a wonderful year. We've enjoyed watching you learn, grow and play. Your creativity has been astounding throughout the year as you engaged with all the different themes. We wish the year 6's leaving good luck with their new adventures and look forward to the new cohort in Reception next term.

Week commencing 01/07/2024:

Our theme this week has been 'Pinocchio'. The children have designed all the different characters from the film. They have created cats, fish and puppets. The  children have also performed their own puppet show to the entire club.

Week commencing 24/6/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Aladdin'. The children have excelled at making their own magic carpets, designing cardboard cut-outs of Rajah the tiger and colouring pictures from the film. They have also beaten the heat this week with lots of waterplay outside as well as visiting the forest and having fun doing a variety of other games.

Week commencing 17/06/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Euros 2024'. The children have had a great time creating football stadiums, huge trophies and designing their own football pictures. We have been blessed by the weather and have had fun on the field. The children have decided on playing cricket, football and 4 square as well as lots of gymnastics. Hopefully, the weather stays for the Summer Fayre.

Week commencing 10/06/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Circus Fun'. The children have had a great time expressing their creativity by making clown hats, designing posters and tickets for the circus and creating a 'Ring of Fire'. The children also used a parachute to make a big tent on the field as well as designing their own clowns. We have also enjoyed playing board games when we have been stuck indoors and had fun on the playground when it was warmer.

Week commencing 03/06/24:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Pirates Ahoy'. The children have made treasure maps, hidden their treasure and designed treasure chests. They've also enjoyed playing outside when the weather has permitted. Overall, it has been a very good first week back from half term.

Week commencing 20/05/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Our Favourite Things' as well as 'Splatter Paint'. Elisse has also made fruit mocktails. The children have made designs of their favourite things in order to go on a display. They've enjoyed popcorn as a special treat as the half term winds down.

Week commencing 13/05/2024: 

 

Our theme this week has been the Earth. The children have enjoyed creating beautiful artwork of their favourite animals, interesting pictures and designs as well as making a tissue ball version of the Earth which looks fantastic.

We have also done lots of playing outside on the days that have allowed it. Once again 4-Square is king of the outdoor games.

Elisse made the children some delicious soup and toast.

Week Commencing 06/05/2024:

 

This week our theme has been 'Our Favourite Things'. 

The children designed a front cover for their favourite book, as the weather has been so beautiful most of the time the children have been playing outside. They have been playing in the tent and a firm favourite has been being able to dip their feet, which they have all enjoyed. We also had groups of children listening to stories.

Week Commencing 29/04/2024:

Our theme this week has been 'Flower Shop', We have had a fun time on the field and the children have enjoyed playing lots of cricket, football, and four square. As the weather has been beautiful. 

The children have done lots of planting new different kinds of flowers.

 

Week Commencing 2/04/2024:

Our theme this week has been 'We've Travelled the World'. 

(We made passports first)

The children made suitcases and boarding passes for their travels.

We then made pizza on Wednesday as a travel treat.

Week commencing 15/04/2024:

Our theme this week has been 'Back to School from the Holidays'. The children have been on some wonderful holidays as their paintings will show you.

Our theme this week has been 'Easter Fun' the children have had a lot of fun making crowns, designing eggs and making lots and lots of bunnies.

Our theme this week has been 'Handa's Surprise'. The children have designed lots of fruit, woven baskets and drawn some of the cheeky animals from the story.

Our theme this week has been Rainbow Ark. The children have been drawing lots of animals for the Ark as well as coming up with their own. We have had playground fun with the scooters, skipping ropes and our favourite game Four Square and river-bank. We've also done lots of Model Making.

Our theme this week has been 'Outer Space'. The children have employed their creativity to create their own aliens, as well as designing their own rocket ships.

Week commencing 22/01/2024:

Our theme this week has been Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. The children have done lots of colouring in of themed pictures, created their own adventures and (thanks to the weather finally improving) have managed to get onto the playground and in to the forest to enjoy themselves.

Week commencing 15/01/2024:

 

Our theme this week has been 'Traditional Fairy Tales'. We have included: Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks, Elmer and the Gingerbread Man.

We have done some themed cooking making gingerbread biscuits. We have done colouring, made Cinderella castles. Children have created Domino Rallies and some have been turning the setting into a hairdressing salon!

Week commencing 08/01/2024:

 

Welcome back to a brand new year, we hope you have had a restful holiday. The children have settled back in to school seamlessly and thank you for the Christmas gifts.

Christmas update:

Our theme for the past few weeks has been Build up to Christmas. The children have loved the activities on offer, the games we've played and the treats that we have had.

 

Elisse organised a huge spread for our Christmas party snack, she made it in 40 minutes and the children wolfed it down in 5!

 

We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Have a lovely break and we will see you in 2024.

Week commencing 27/11/2023:

 

Our theme this week has been Winter Wonderland. The children have really enjoyed crafting, drawing and creating. They have had a special treat of cookies on Thursday as well as fairy cakes on Friday. They have adapted well to being stuck inside by the cold and have been inventive in finding new ways to make fun, especially Cup Ball.

Our theme this week has been Winter Animals and 'Do you want to build a Snowman?'.

 

The children have made penguins, polar bears and all sorts of wintery creatures. They have also designed their own Snowmen, played outdoor games (weather permitting) and explored the forest.

Our theme this week has been Where's Wally? (I-Spy). The children have done lots of Where's Wally themed activities like colouring pictures, hide and seek in the forest and making a spy obstacle course. They also had a treat on Monday when Elisse made pizzas.

Our theme this week has been Halloween and Fireworks. The children had a special treat from Elisse when she made gingerbread cookies. They also had party games and dancing when the weather kept us indoors.

Week Commencing 04/09/2023:

Our theme this week has been Welcome Back. We have made leaf patterns and we have been into the forest, making the most of the shade in the hot weather.

We also had a water balloon fight on Thursday afternoon.

We had a surprise visitor in the shape of Tango the bearded dragon. The children were all very excited to make his acquaintance.
